The Korean social relationships are shaped by Confucian values which stress filial piety, loyalty, seniority, and respect for age.
Korea is a male dominated society: the father is the head of the family and women are inferior to men in social status. The relationships between superiors and subordinates, male and female, elderly and youngsters, parents and children, and teachers and students are all at high power distance.
