“Assimilation”, “equal civic integration” and “multiculturalism” are the three major nationalist narratives advocated by the Australian Government to create an all-round policy to integrate citizens for nation-building. 

 

The Australian policy of multiculturalism fosters intercultural communication and raises the socio-economic status of the ethnic minority. As a result, citizenship is strengthened and it helps construct a strong sense of national identity among citizens.
